Leaving on a jet plane....

The day has finally come to leave.  After months of preparation and six suitcases later, we closed up our house in Newburgh and began our journey to Stockholm.

We flew out of Evansville to Chicago.  From Chicago, we switched to SAS airlines to fly direct into Stockholm.  Our flight to Stockholm didn't leave Chicago until 4:30, but unfortunately we had to leave Evansville at 8 am.  So, we had a long day in the airport.  We purchased the SAS Plus plane tickets, so we had access to the lounge.  We spent most of our day there waiting for the flight.  It was nice because Belle was able to crawl around and we also had access to drinks and snacks.

Finally, at 4 o'clock, it was time to board.  Belle had her own seat, which was nice.  She was full of energy on the plane, and I don't think Cyle and I could have contained her for the 8 hour flight.

The flight was long but uneventful.  We did have a famous passenger on board.  One of the flight attendants approached a passenger that was sitting across the aisle from Cyle.  From their conversation, Cyle was able to figure out that the man she was talking to was the First Officer on the plane that became known as the Miracle on the Hudson.  He and his wife were then promptly moved to Business Class.  Eight hours later, we arrived in Stockholm, Sweden.   It was only 7 a.m. in Stockholm, but to us it felt like it was midnight.  We were all exhausted.  After arriving, we passed through customs, claimed our luggage and started to make our way to our new home.

However, getting home wasn't as easy as we thought it would be.  We finally found a cab that was able to accommodate all of our luggage, Cyle gave the driver our address, and we were on our way.  We arrived at our apartment, the cab driver unloaded all of our suitcases, and Cyle went to unlock the door to our apartment.  However, the code wouldn't work.  We kept trying it but nothing worked.  Luckily, our neighbor who would be living below us had sent me her cell number just in case.  So, I phoned her and we realized that the company had sent Cyle the wrong address.  So, we packed up all of our suitcases and finally arrived at the correct address.

The rest of the day was filled with unpacking and naps. That evening, we found a pizza restaurant that was about a block away from our apartment. The pizza was delicious and was a great way to end our first day in Stockholm.
